Udupi Palace

Serving authentic South Indian food in the heart of San Francisco and Berkeley since 2000, we at Udupi Palace are known for our 100 vegetarian cuisine. Specializing in dosas and uthappams, Udupi Palace is the place to go for delicious Indian food.

Udupi Palace may serve the best dosas in the area, but we offer so much more. We use only the freshest vegetarian ingredients to create authentic South Indian flavors, and most dishes can be made vegan upon request. We combine fresh vegetables, colorful lentils, and fine Basmati rice with South Indian flavors of saffron, tamarind, and rasam (pepper water) to create a unique taste you'll find nowhere else. Our wide variety of chutneys, made in house, are the perfect accompaniment for your favorite dosa or uthapam, and don't forget to indulge your sweet tooth with the fresh carrots and nutty ghee of our carrot halwa! With two locations, Udupi Palace is convenient from much of the Bay Area, so look no further the next time you are craving a real taste of South India.

More About Us!

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. The samosas are delicious, and the channa masala was flavorful and just spicy enough. I come here whenever I'm having a craving for dosas-- the chettinab dosa is my favorite! I will definitely be returning. -- Jason D.

I'm a meat lover, so when my girlfriend suggested this restaurant, I was skeptical. But the food had so much flavor that I hardly missed the meat at all. My girlfriend was very pleased to find a vegetarian restaurant that is delicious and has lots of flavor. The vegetable biryani was excellent, and the prices weren't bad either. It's something that we both enjoyed. -- Brad W.

Good service and large portion sizes. I ordered the Udupi combo, and I could have easily shared it with another person (except that it was so delicious that I wanted to eat it all myself!) The place gets busy on weekends, but isn't that the mark of a good restaurant? -- Lisa D.
